There are many different forms of depression but the most known is Major depressive disorder, it is a serious mental condition that affects many individuals according to CDC. It affects how the individual feels, thinks and navigates daily activities. It’s a characterized by persistent sadness, lack of interest in activities they love doing, lack of concentration, somatic symptoms without physical cause, change in appetite, sleep pattern, thoughts of death or suicide, anhedonia or lack of motivation over a period of 2 weeks.

This condition is characterized by extreme high energy, impulsivity, distractibility, and mood swings (Manic or hypomania) and low energy or down symptoms (depression). An individual can exhibit both manic and depression (mixed features) or depressive bipolar in the absence of manic history.
However, a good assessment is needed to determine individuals based on multiple factors and presenting symptoms.
Bipolar disorder often appears in late adolescence or early adulthood.
